Just some of the things I need to get off my chest.
Things to consider before you post.

Don't post till you check your spelling. I know it might be difficult but why look like someone with a second grade education when you know you can do better. I think most just post and never look back to read what they have written first. Maybe you look after you post and think "oh no" did I really do that? Most miss-spelled words are just that, the person couldn't spell it, some are just silly as in the word wallpapers or problem, those look like someone who is frustrated but I think just re-reading your work is a must before you post. No one here might say anything but we do think it. There is no spell check for the posts here and I have been at other sites that have them and people seem to think they are too smart to use them.  I would say to that, so sorry but your post didn't make the cut because you didn't spell check. Here there isn't that option so you must proof read your post first and if you are not sure of the spelling please look up the word first to make sure you look like someone took a little time to read before you post. I do this for my own sanity. I try very hard to make sure I at least try to spell it right before I post. I might not be the brightest bulb in the box but I don't want to look like the broken bulb either. Please just check before you post and save the people here from looking at these mistakes and try to use "Caps" where needed. Couldn't hurt. Thanks from someone who goes crazy when she views posts like this.

I read that very easily. Amazing how the brain works.

I Agree

I could read that easily too

Being on the internet is no excuse for poor English. It is not cool or clever to type with abandon, it's just ignorant. If you can't be bothered to type properly, I can't be bothered to read it...

It also shows a lack of respect for those who are reading/writing English as a second language. Although English has become the language of the internet, ¾ of the world do not speak any English at all.

Behave like a child, expect to be treated like a child.

It has already been said, but a little courtesy goes a long way.

Zubaz is a special case. His typing fingers were sewn together at birth

My personal issue is that if people wish to communicate with me personally...and they expect a response, then that response will be commensurate with the considered effort they have taken in communicating.

To translate for the slow...or lazy.... treat me with disdain/contempt by not offering me the simple act of polite, intelligent communication then I'll simply either do one of two things....ignore you totally, or permanently write you off as ignorant or stupid or uncaring, or all three.

Latitude is afforded those whose first language is not English [or its derivatives], and there are many here, as this is an international community.

Even Kona got it right.  It's the polite thing to do.

As for 'grammar Nazis' ....we shouldn't be policing it, just gently suggesting people will go further in life if they have/use good communication skills...

"Most miss-spelled words are just that"

How ironic. Perfect. I see this was noted by others as well, but I couldn't pass up on it.
Thanks for the comic relief.

Ditto regarding large blocks of text.

Well we know you can't add

The English language, huh! Reminds me of a WW1 story my grandfather used to tell of a British captain who found an Australian Light Horseman's hat in the mud, saw it as an unbefitting place for it to be, so stooped to pick it up and clean it off.

We he first began to lift it seemed to be stuck in the mud, so he pulled a little harder until a very Australian head appeared from the mire.

"Strewth, mate, ya coulda flamin' well been more patient 'til I got me bloomin' feet outta the stirrups!"

To which the British offcicer remarked: "Sir, do you not know the King's English?"

"Well I cert'nly hope the bludger is, they sent me 'ere t' fight for the bastard."

Boom boom

Just so I got it right some of you think that if someone CAN"T spell
they are not being
polite

just because someone can't spell or spell proper don't make them
ignorant or stupid or uncaring, or slow or lazy

Damn we should just round up everyone that can't read, write(properly) spell correctly
and put them in the ground. because they are to stupid.

what, do I see hitler..?

this is not being polite

To translate for the slow...or lazy.... treat me with disdain/contempt by not offering me the simple act of polite, intelligent communication then I'll simply either do one of two things....ignore you totally, or permanently write you off as ignorant or stupid or uncaring, or all three.

not spelling correctly or misspelling is not being rude or being lazy..

DC, if someone doesn't take the time to communicate well, what *does* that make them?

And individuals deciding what to reply to on there own does not correlate to genocide.  Choose your examples or illustrations better so as not to be perceived as an inconsiderate clod.
on Feb 23, 2008
shit I was not being Inconsiderate.. you know, we can't all be
Blue eyed and Blond hair..

maybe I was being a tad bit of a Clod (a silly or foolish person) or
was that to put some clod on top of them, stupid lazy ones. hhmmm

DC, if someone doesn't take the time to communicate well, what *does* that make them?

IF and ONLY if they don't take time to communicate well. well it makes them, them..
maybe at the MOST lazy.. but who are we to say if they took the time or not they may not
be able to spell good.

so to me posting here and telling people they are, ignorant, stupid, uncaring or impolite or
an inconsiderate clod

are being the ones that are being
ignorant, stupid, uncaring or impolite or
an inconsiderate clod

The TWO things....ignore or write you off.

ignorant, stupid, uncaring - the 'all three'.

Looks like I can count afterall....

not spelling correctly or misspelling is not being rude or being lazy..

CHOOSING not to, when one can IS, particularly if/when the person talking to you is affording you that same respect.

For example, I could explain the difference between someone who cannot communicate well in English due to social or ethnic status, vs someone who just doesn't care enough to give a toss...

Or...

I could be socially and communicatively equally inept and just say...

"yeah, whatever".

It really isn't all that difficult to get to know your correspondent....whether English is or isn't his first language, particularly when it's often [to use your term] "Blue eyed and blond hair" western teenage 'slang' being confused with 'trend-speak'.

Cutting corners in communication tells your audience much more about you than you may really want to reveal.

You know, it ain't "posh" ta speak rite, but "proper" ...peepel confuse the too...

Was about the write something then ..nevermind, totally bored of the grammar-police in the world... i wish fredrik lindströms books where translated to other languages, he is a lingvist(?!?) that makes some really good points about typed language and spoken and why missspelling and chat language is probably the evolution of our language so grammar police you are the ones in wrong and you sir's are dinosaurs, and OMG LOL this is the future! Ahhh crap i wrote something...
